Illusionist David Copperfield appears in district court this week and is scheduled to testify Tuesday in a civil trial.
He and the MGM Grand are accused of failing to do enough to prevent the injury of British tourist Gavin Cox, whose accident as a participant in the “Lucky No. 13” illusion left him with permanent a brain injury.
Lawyers for Copperfield the MGM and other defendants in the case have called the incident an unfortunate accident that was no one’s fault.

You won’t find a paywall here. Come as often as you like — we’re not counting. You’ve found a like-minded tribe that cherishes what a free press stands for. If you can spend another couple of minutes making a pledge of as little as $5, you’ll feel like a superhero defending democracy for less than the cost of a month of Netflix.
