The Washoe County School District voted Tuesday to save 10 English-language teacher positions amid an ongoing debate over how to close the district's budget hole.
The proposed cuts would have eliminated jobs dedicated to teaching the district's thousands of students still learning English.
Other budget cuts were approved such as the elimination of at least 30 other positions and a reduction to the athletics budget.

The district will likely give final approval to the multi-million-dollar list of cuts by the end of May.
