State Sen. Spearman Announces Bid For Higher Office

State Sen. Pat Spearman is announcing a bid for higher office.

In an interview with KNPR, she said she was putting forth her candidacy for the Democratic nomination in Nevada's fourth congressional district.

"There's been a lot of speculation over the last three or four weeks as to whether or not I would or would not seek to represent Nevada's fourth congressional district, and I have decided that I'm going to do just that," she said.

The seat is currently held by Ruben Kihuen, a fellow Democrat.

He's retiring from the House after allegations of sexual harassment.

Spearman told KNPR she plans to embark on a listening tour of the district, which spans part of Clark County and much of central Nevada, to meet with constituents.

Democratic challengers so far for that position include Amy Vilela and John Anzalone, while Republicans include Las Vegas city councilman Stavros Anthony and Jeff Miller.
