The Bureau of Land Management announced it is more than doubling the fee to get into the popular Red Rock Conservation Area west of Las Vegas.
The fee increases for a single car will increase from $7 to $15. The BLM held public meetings on a proposed fee increase in September and heard from the public for that entire month. The BLM said in a statement the increase is to meet preservation and recreation goals as well as to increase the visitor experience.
The fee increase will put prices at $15 for cars, $10 for motorcycles, $5 for bicycles and pedestrians and $20 for individual campsites. A large section of the National Conservation Area will still be accessible for hiking and other recreational activities free of charge.
