The National Weather Service has issued a high wind and winter weather warning for the Reno-Tahoe area.
The agency expects several inches of snow to come on the heels of 80 mph winds in some areas. The fast-moving storm could drop up to eight inches of snow at elevations above 8,000 ft. – with anywhere from a half-inch to two inches in the valley.
That’s good news for skiers but not so good for drivers - as Reno road crews apply salt brine to the slippery roadways, and prepare for plowing operations.
