Nevada election officials have ruled that there were enough signatures gathered on a petition to recall Democratic State Senator Nicole Cannizzaro.
The Secretary of State’s office said today that by a narrow 43-signature margin, the recall petition had enough to call a special election.
Democrats, however, are likely to challenge the signature total in court, which would block an election from immediately going forward.
Democrats challenged thousands of signatures in a similar effort against state Senator Joyce Woodhouse.
There is also a federal court case pending that challenges Nevada’s recall law.
