Office Of Civil Rights Closes DSU Investigation

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights has closed its investigation into Dixie State University in St. George, Utah for a potential Title IX violation.

The student who alleged the Title IX case, however, may still take legal action against the school. The St. George Spectrum reportsthe OCR began its investigation in June, following a complaint filed by a student who alleges the university committed a Title IX violation after a discrimination complaint and that she was denied due process.

The OCR was specifically investigating the Title IX procedure, and closed the investigation on Dec. 5. Since the OCR was only investigating one portion of the claim, the student’s attorneys have said they could still file a lawsuit in the New Year.
