New Category For High School Sports Coming To Nevada

A fifth classification for high school sports in Nevada is coming after the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association meets Thursday.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the new Class 5A will not include any current Class 4A Northern Region schools or impact any 2A or 1A teams.

Teams will be classified differently in football than other sports, and the reclassification will be based on rubric points that measure schools based on postseason performance.

The committee with prepare a formal recommendation to the NIAA Board of Control in January.
