RENO, Nevada (AP) — Police say they don't believe a gunman who opened fire on a downtown Reno street from a high-rise condominium had planned the attack.
Reno Police Chief Jason Soto says the preliminary information indicates the Tuesday night shooting was an isolated incident.
He said in the statement Wednesday that "it does not appear that this was a pre-planned attack on our community."
The gunman was fatally shot by police. A woman who was taken hostage escaped injury and no one was seriously hurt.
Soto said a flood of 911 calls were instrumental in prompting a quick response by law enforcement shortly before 7 p.m.
