Henderson Working On Plan To Distribute Marijuana Money To Schools

Henderson officials are working out a plan to distribute licensing revenue from marijuana retailers to schools.

After the city council voted this month to direct 30 percent of the revenue from business license fees to the city’s schools, an advisory council was established to figure out how to distribute that money.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the council will likely recommend a grant-like approach and will work with individual principals to determine a school’s needs.

The business license fee is based on 3 percent of a dispensary’s gross revenue and is collected every six months. City officials expect it to generate $500,000 to $1 million.
