Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski announced today that an internal affairs investigation of two Salt Lake City Police officers involved in the arrest of a local nurse found a number of policy violations.
Body cam footage of officer Jeff Payne arresting University Hospital nurse Alex Wubbels after she refused to allow him to obtain a blood sample from an unconscious patient was highly publicized after the footage was made public, spreading like wildfire on social media.
On Sept. 1, a criminal investigation was launched at the request of the Salt Lake County district attorney’s office.
Jeff Payne and his supervisor are on administrative leave.
The internal affairs reports will be sent to Police Chief Mike Brown who will then decide the employment status of officers involved.
