UNR Running Behind On MacKay Stadium Repairs

The University of Nevada Reno is running behind on its schedule to fix the wheelchair seating at its stadium.

UNR was supposed to have the problems fixed before the first home football game. The Reno Gazette-Journal reported that the 50-year-old MacKay Stadium recently underwent $14 million in renovations ahead of last season, but the university had to add on nearly $700,000 to ensure seating was compliant with the American With Disabilities Act.

Last season, fans discovered some of the wheelchair seating did not provide field visibility. The university planned to tear down the seats without a view, add more accessible seating and install electric lifts.

University officials said the lift manufacturer was delayed, so repairs are now planned to be completed by early October.
