The NFL says it won’t investigate Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett’s claims that Las Vegas Metro Police detained him with excessive force based on racial bias.
League spokesman Brian McCarthy says, “There is no allegation of a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy and therefore there is no basis for an NFL investigation.”
The Las Vegas police’s union president, Detective Steve Grammas, wrote a letter Thursday asking NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to look into what he called “obvious false allegations.”
Bennett posted a letter on Twitter earlier this week saying Metro police officers used excessive force and threatened him in an incident after the August 26 boxing match between Floyd Mayweather. Jr. and Conor McGregor.
