Firefighters Battle Blazes In Triple-Digit Heat

Crews are battling wildfires across the west from California to Montana this week in triple digit heat.

One of the fires temporarily shut down the main travel route to the Burning Man festival in the Black Rock Desert about 100 miles north of Reno.

About 100 firefighers remained on the lines last night, after air tankers dumped fire retardants on the flaming sagebrush and invasive cheat grass. In California, temperatures exceeding 110 will be possible in the interior valley east of San Francisco Bay today and tomorrow.
