North Las Vegas Detective Mourned As A Go-Getter

A North Las Vegas police detective killed in an on-duty vehicle crash is being remembered as a dedicated officer who also cared deeply for his community.

North Las Vegas Police Chief Alex Perez told mourners at a funeral for Chad Parque that the 10-year police veteran quickly developed a reputation as a go-getter and an unrelenting foot soldier fighting for victims.

Hundreds turned out for the funeral for the 32-year-old Parque at Central Christian Church in Henderson, where a long police motorcade led to-and-from Palm Mortuary in northwest Las Vegas.

Police say Parque was leaving North Las Vegas Justice Court in a department car on Jan. 6 when he collided with a wrong-way driver on busy Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Parque was the third North Las Vegas police officer killed in the line of duty in 70 years.
