LAS VEGAS (AP) — An Allegiant Air official says a scheduled flight to Knoxville, Tennessee, had 141 passengers and six crew members aboard when it returned to Las Vegas due to an unspecified issue with a navigational display.
The email account by an airline spokeswoman who didn't provide her last name corrected the number of people aboard the jet, 147, when it landed Monday morning at McCarran International Airport.
Airport spokeswoman Christine Crews says the pilot declared an in-air emergency a little before 10 a.m., and the twin-engine MD-80 and circled the area to burn off fuel before landing in Las Vegas at 10:47 a.m.
Crews had said there were 146 passengers and crew aboard, and that firefighters stood by as a precaution when the plane landed.
Allegiant says the aircraft taxied to a gate under its own power and passengers boarded a replacement aircraft for the flight to McGhee Tyson Airport. They departed a little before 1 p.m.
It says passengers also were given $100 vouchers for future Allegiant travel.
