Officials in Elko County are weighing three applications to fill the position of district attorney.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports a deputy district attorney and an attorney in private practice in Battle Mountain have applied, as has the current interim D.A.
The position became open in August when Elko County District Attorney Mark Torvinen died.

The Elko County Commission will look at applications at its meeting Oct. 5, and make a decision sometime thereafter.
Whomever is selected to fill Torvinen's seat will remain in office until the end of 2018.
