Fire Causes At Least $500K In Damage At LV Shopping Center

A fire official says no one was injured but six businesses were badly damaged in an overnight fire at a shopping center northwest of downtown Las Vegas.

Fire spokesman Tim Szymanski said Friday that flames were shooting from the rear of the Twin Lakes Plaza complex when a passer-by summoned firefighters a little before 3 a.m.

Multiple alarms brought more than 75 firefighters to the scene off Rancho Drive near Washington Avenue before the fire was brought under control.

Szymanski says flames spread through a common roof space. A Mexican restaurant and neighboring storefronts were damaged.

Initial damage estimates were about $500,000.
