A lawyer for a Las Vegas city councilman says the FBI is investigating the councilor's campaign contributions.
Defense attorney Richard Wright told the Las Vegas Review-Journal Wednesday that City Councilman Ricki Barlow knows he is being investigated and doesn't believe he has done anything wrong.
FBI spokesman Huston Pullen declined to comment.
Wright says he believes the FBI and federal prosecutors are looking at possible violations of what is called the "honest services" law as well as wire and mail fraud. Barlow also acknowledged the investigation Wednesday.
Las Vegas communications director David Riggleman told the AP that the city has received a records request from the FBI and is cooperating fully. He said the city could not elaborate further because of the ongoing investigation.
