LAS VEGAS (AP) — County commissioners are set to meet next week to fill vacancies in the Legislature before an expected special session.
Gov. Brian Sandoval is reviewing a committee's recommendation that Las Vegas-area hotel tax be raised to help fund an NFL stadium. He could call a special legislative session in coming weeks.
Clark County commissioners said they'll meet Sept. 30 to choose replacements from Assembly districts 1 and 5. They're accepting applications through their website until 5 p.m. on Monday.
Washoe County commissioners are meeting Sept. 27 to fill two Senate seats and one Assembly seat.
Commissioners planned to fill the seats this week, but the Reno Gazette-Journal raised transparency concerns, saying the names of potential appointees were not published on meeting agendas.
The meetings were then postponed.
