Solar Farm Outside Pahrump Proposed

A power company wants to build a solar farm near Pahrump.

The plant under discussion would be 3,000 acres in size and would be near where Tecopa Road meets State Route 160, according to the Pahrump Valley Times.

The so-called Yellow Pine Solar Project would be built by NextEra Energy Resources, and the firm has submitted its proposal to the Nevada Public Utilities Commission for review.

The plant would be able to generate 250 megawatts of electricity and would feed into the Sandy Valley substation.

If approved, the plant's construction would start in the fall of 2019, and could take up to two years.
