France Truck Attack Spurs Talk Of Barriers For Las Vegas Strip

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The truck attack in France that killed 84 people watching fireworks has Las Vegas officials considering if more protection is needed on the Strip.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo tells KSNV-TV that he wants to see more barriers in the pedestrian-heavy area.

Las Vegas police Capt. Christopher Tomaino says measures like that come with a large price tag, an issue every government wrestles with.

Tomaino says it is more difficult to protect crowds on the Strip during big events.

Some parts of Las Vegas Boulevard have barriers for pedestrians.

Last December, a driver allegedly drove onto the sidewalk on the Strip.

Lakeisha Holloway is accused of killing a mother of three and injuring at least 34 others.

A judge ordered her sent to a state mental hospital in March.
