Wildlife Officials Investigating Dead Antelope Near Elko

State wildlife officials are investigating the killing of a pronghorn antelope at a public shooting range on the edge of Elko.

Nevada State Wildlife Game Warden Jason Jackson said Tuesday the agency received a report on June 3rd of a dead antelope at the Elko County Shooting Range.

Jackson says investigators determined it had been shot with a high-powered rifle at the range on the west side of town. He says it most likely happened on June 2.

Jackson says no hunting seasons currently are open for antelope in Nevada. He's asking for the public's help in solving the possible crime.

Anyone with information should call Operation Game Thief at 1-800-992-3030 or the state agency office in Elko at 775-777-2300.
