The Clark County School District has decided to move forward with plans to update its sexual education curriculum for students.
The Las Vegas Sun reports the district's board voted to update parts of the sex ed curriculum to include information about contraception, sexual assault and sexually transmitted infections & diseases.
Even with the new information, though, CCSD's curriculum will remain focused on abstinence.
However, the board punted on a decision regarding the inclusion of information about sexuality and gender identity as relates to the LGBTQ community.
That drew criticism from groups like the ACLU of Nevada, which has lobbied for those topics to be part of the CCSD sexual education curriculum.
That said, there are talks of further revisions to the curriculum potentially coming as soon as this summer.
