Washoe Trustees Ask For Second Look At 50-Cent Copy Fee

Two members of the Washoe County School Board are requesting more details on a new policy that charges 50 cents a page for copies of student records.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the new rule also affects families of children with disabilities.

The per-page charge is the same for them as for other students. Previously, the district charged 60 cents a page, but families of children with disabilities didn’t have to pay.

Advocates say children with disabilities could have hundreds of pages in their files, as opposed to typical students’ files, averaging a few dozen.
