Reid Confronts Fellow Democrat Over Ethics Allegations

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid had an in-your-face exchange Wednesday with a Democratic congressman running for the Senate.

Witnesses say Reid was speaking to the Congressional Progressive Caucus when Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida interrupted him, challenging statements Reid has made about Grayson. Reid has endorsed Grayson's Democratic opponent in the Florida Senate primary and called on Grayson to drop out of the race.

Reid spokeswoman Kristen Orthman said Reid "took the opportunity to express his low opinion of Congressman Grayson to his face and remind him that the reason Senator Reid has said that Grayson is under ethics investigation ... is because these things are true."

Grayson's office quickly emailed a retort from the congressman: "I have a low opinion of Reid's low opinion."
