Las Vegan Pleads Guilty To Threatening Obama, Others

A 56-year-old Las Vegas man has pleaded guilty in federal court to threatening the life of President Barack Obama and other government officials, and urging others to join him.

Tyrone Paul Ponthieux pleaded guilty Wednesday to posting Facebook threats against the president in November 2014 and making verbal threats last September against officials including an FBI agent assigned to his case.

Ponthieux's attorney didn't immediately respond Thursday to messages.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1N9MV2L) that U.S. District Judge Andrew Gordon ordered Ponthieux freed from jail but detained at home with electronic monitoring pending sentencing July 20.

He could face up to 15 years in prison and $500,000 in fines.

Ponthieux also surrendered two handguns, four rifles and a shotgun seized when he was arrested last June.
