Gary Cook, the publisher of The Ely Times for the past two years, has been named the new publisher of the Sparks Tribune.
Both publications are owned by Battle Born Media.
Kirk Kern, the company's chief operating officer, announced that Cook will replace Kent Lauer, who stepped down last week.

Cook served as marketing manager at Nevada Magazine in Carson City from 1988-92 and worked at Adventure West Magazine based in Incline Village from 1992-98.
At the Sparks Tribune, Kern will oversee the editorial product while Cook will handle advertising, circulation and business functions.
