Nevada Man Treated After AZ Climbing Accident

A Nevada man is being treated at a hospital for head and hand injuries after a fall while backpacking on a northwestern Arizona mountain.

Mohave County Sheriff's officials say 39-year-old Sean Taylor of Las Vegas was rescued by helicopter Monday on the rugged western slopes of Mount Tipton at an elevation of about 6,000 feet.

They say Taylor had camped Sunday night on Mount Tipton and fell while attempting to descend a steep and rugged canyon toward the trailhead.

He called for help and a sheriff's search and rescue technical rope secure team rappelled from a helicopter to Taylor.

After about four hours of descending the wash, Taylor and rescuers reached a part of the canyon where there was sufficient room for the helicopter to hover above a large rock.
