Rarity For Iron County Schools: A Snow Day

Something happened Monday in Iron County, Utah that hasn't happened in more than 60 years: the school district called a snow day.

The St. George Spectrum reports district officials made the call earlier this morning, marking the first time Iron County has canceled school for snow in 61 years.

Officials said it would be too difficult for parents to take their kids to school or for the district's buses to run because of snowy conditions.

Some parts of Iron County got more than a foot of snow over 24 hours.

More snow is expected, and the district doesn't know if school will be in session Tuesday.
