McCarran Int'l Sees Third Highest Passenger Count In 2015

Las Vegas officials say 2015 saw the third highest passenger count in airport history with more than 45 million people who came through McCarran International last year.

The Clark County Department of Aviation said Wednesday that 45.4 million people flew in and out of the city in 2015. It amounts to a 5.8 percent increase over 2014, when there were about 42.9 million passengers.

This marks 2015 as the third-busiest in the airport's 67-year history.

Domestic airlines saw the largest gains. Frontier Airlines more than doubled its passenger numbers. Spirit Airlines, JetBlue and Virgin America also saw double-digit increases.

Last month, about 3.7 million passengers came through for an 8.9 percent increase over December 2014.

The Vegas airport's peak year in 2007 saw a record 48 million passengers.
