Three police unions in Las Vegas are taking Metro to court.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the Las Vegas Police Protective Association, Las Vegas Police Protective Association Civilian Employees, and the Las Vegas Police Managers and Supervisors Association are suing over Senate Bill 241.
That bill prevents governments from allowing employees to take paid time off to work as representatives for labor organizations. It took effect this June.
The unions claim the bill violates the first amendment and the fourteenth amendment. They're seeking an injunction to prevent its enforcement.
The bill has attracted controversy with other unions.
Clark County's largest union, the Service Employees International Union Local 1107, filed a complaint with the state's labor relations board about the law.
That conflict was later resolved, though some employees are still affected by it.
