State Unemployment Insurance Computer Program Overhauled

Nevada officials have finished overhauling an outdated, 30-year-old computer system that processes unemployment insurance.

The Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation said this week that the new Employer Self Service website will make it easier for employers to track payments they've made to the unemployment insurance fund and changes in tax rates.

Employment Security Division Administrator Renee Olson said the upgrades were years in the making and come at a good time as Nevada attracts a record number of employers. Olson said the state has nearly 63,000 businesses that could use the system.
