First Las Vegas Area Medical Marijuana Dispensary Opens

LAS VEGAS (AP) — After several months of delays, the first store to sell medical marijuana legally in the Las Vegas area is open for business.

Euphoria Wellness opened Monday morning several miles southwest of the Las Vegas Strip to sell a limited amount of marijuana to invited customers. The store opens to any medical marijuana cardholder starting Wednesday.

The vast majority of the state's 9,542 patient cardholders live in the Las Vegas area.

Among them is Chris Decolati of Las Vegas who suffers from multiple sclerosis and stood in line outside Euphoria Wellness Monday saying it represented a legitimate and legal option for patients like himself.

The store has limited sales to half-an-ounce per patient for now.

Nevada's first medical marijuana dispensary opened July 31 in the city of Sparks.
