Obama, Reid Will Hold Dinner For Cortez Masto

LAS VEGAS (AP) — President Barack Obama is co-hosting a fundraiser in Las Vegas for Democratic Senate candidate Catherine Cortez Masto.

Obama and Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid will hold the dinner the evening of Aug. 24, the same day the president is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the National Clean Energy Summit in Las Vegas.

Cortez Masto served as Nevada Attorney General for eight years. Reid has praised her as a capable successor for his Senate seat, which he plans to vacate after the 2016 election.

Cortez Masto is running against Republican Rep. Joe Heck in what is expected to be a highly competitive race.
