Veterans Policy Chief Promoted To Homeland Security Adviser

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Gov. Brian Sandoval has appointed his director of military and veterans policy to serve as the state's point person for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Sandoval announced Friday that Caleb Cage will be his Homeland Security Adviser. Cage has also been named the chief of the Division of Emergency Management, which shares intelligence, protects critical infrastructure and leads emergency preparedness initiatives.

Sandoval praised Cage for his work ushering a broad veteran services agenda through the Legislature this past spring, and said he'd be a sharp and knowledgeable adviser.

Cage spent five years in the Army and served a year in Iraq. He lives in Pleasant Valley with his wife and two children.
