Census Population Estimates Push Las Vegas Up a Spot to 29

LAS VEGAS (AP) — U.S. Census Bureau estimates show Las Vegas grew by nearly 10,000 people last year, kicking the city up another spot to 29 among the most populated places in the United States.

The increase represented a small 1.6 percent bump from the prior year for a total population of 613,599 according to the estimates released Thursday.

Census estimates show the cities of Reno and Sparks grew by the same rate for a total of 236,995 and 94,708 in each respectively. North Las Vegas grew by 1.7 percent to 230,788 people. Henderson had the highest growth in Nevada at 2.5 percent between 2013 and 2014 for a total population of 277,440.
