Nevada Democrat Lucy Flores Joining Race For Congress

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former Democratic assemblywoman and lieutenant governor candidate Lucy Flores says she's running for Congress.

Flores announced Wednesday that she will seek the 4th Congressional District seat now held by first-term Republican Rep. Cresent Hardy.

She's the second Democrat to announce. Nevada state Sen. Ruben Kihuen has announced his bid last month.

The district includes urban North Las Vegas and a large swath of rural, central Nevada.

Hardy won the seat in a surprise victory over Democrat Steven Horsford, who announced in March that he wouldn't try to win it back.

Flores lost a race for lieutenant governor in November to Republican Mark Hutchison.
