LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say divers recovered the body of a 15-year-old from Las Vegas from the chilly waters of the Lake Mohave reservoir on the Colorado River.
The Clark County coroner on Thursday identified the teen as Srirachat Ganpet.
The National Park Service says Ganpet's body was recovered late Wednesday by Las Vegas police divers in the Placer Cove area near Nelson's Landing. That's on the Nevada side of the river, about 40 miles southeast of Las Vegas.
Park Service spokeswoman Christie Vanover says Ganpet jumped from a rocky cliff about 20 feet high to help a distressed swimmer about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The other swimmer made it to shore, but Ganpet disappeared.
Divers tell KSNV-TV News 3 in Las Vegas the water temperature in the cove was about 57 degrees.
