Roberson Promises Quick Action On Tax Issues

Nevada Senate Majority Leader Michael Roberson promised this morning to tackle tax issues early in the upcoming legislative session, saying he hopes to approve a plan in March that would raise new revenue for education.

Roberson, R-Las Vegas, said the state must raise more money just to fund essential services since the budget is running a deficit. Tax changes would have to produce higher revenue if lawmakers decide to boost funding for K-12 schools and for higher education.

Roberson said he and the GOP-controlled Senate will follow Governor Sandoval’s lead when crafting tax and education reform plans.
