Las Vegas has plenty of stereotypes. And we as a city, have traded on those stereotypes and cliches, including the sense that our city is one big adult playground.

A novel by a Las Vegas writer, captures the place we call home. We Are Called To Rise examines the moral and emotional landscapes of suburban life in a city that is still in some ways, after a century, a kind of boomtown.
We Are Called To Rise is Laura McBride's first book. She’s a community college composition teacher at the College of Southern Nevada, and a long-time Las Vegan.
