Sandoval Names Three To Nevada Court Of Appeals

Gov. Brian Sandoval today named three judges to sit on the recently created Nevada Court of Appeals. He selected Clark County District Court Judges Abbi Silver and Jerry Tao and Douglas County District Court Judge Michael Patrick Gibbons.

The three-judge panel will start working next month.  A committee nominated 12 candidates for the three seats.

The court will be based in Las Vegas and will handle appeals to take the burden off the Nevada Supreme Court.  Voters approved a constitutional amendment in November to create the court after rejecting the plan four other times.
