Two Los Angeles city councilmen are calling for tougher restrictions on residential water customers in an effort to conserve water during the drought. The Daily News reports that Mike Bonin and Felipe Fuentes asked the Department of Water and Power on Tuesday to report on recommendations to add extra tiers of water use at a higher price.
Residents would be given a water budget as a base amount figured to be sufficient for daily use, with the cost rising as the amount rises over that. DWP currently has a two-tier system for residential customers.
