Visions of high-speed travel are still on track in California. Plans for the construction of a 114-mile passenger rail line between Fresno and Bakersfield are official. This is the second section of the planned system to be OK'd, following approval of the Merced-Fresno section in June 2013.
Plans call for the completed system to be more than 800 miles long and provide high-speed rail service throughout California.
