Metro Officers Request Attorney General Investigation

Two Las Vegas police supervisors want the Nevada attorney general to investigate whether superiors covered up systemic problems in Metro’s air unit after an officer died last year.

A lawyer for Lt. Gawain Guedry and Sgt. Leonard Lorusso requested the attorney general take over the review. The lawyer, John Aldrich, wrote that he believed the Clark County District Attorney's Office wasn't moving fast enough since it received the case in March, perhaps because the office works so closely with the police and has a conflict of interest.

The report was commissioned after two nonfatal helicopter mishaps and before Officer David Vanbuskirk fell to his death from a helicopter line July 22, 2013.
