Massachusetts Residents Will Vote On Casinos

The chances MGM Resorts International will build a casino in western Massachusetts are now in the hands of that state's voters. Tuesday, the Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled unanimously to put a question on the November ballot which asks voters if they want to throw out a decision by lawmakers to allow gaming. In 2011 state legislators allowed for three gaming licenses in order to construct three casinos statewide.

MGM was granted the first license to build an 800-million dollar casino in Springfield. Wynn Resorts has proposed a casino outside of Boston. They are competing with the Mohegan Sun Indian Tribe for that license.
