Casinos Avoid A Strike

Downtown Las Vegas casino operators are taking a deep sigh of relief today having averted what could have been a massive strike. On Sunday morning the Culinary and Bartenders Unions came to a tentative agreement with the Golden Gate, the last of the downtown properties to sign an employee contract. On Saturday four other properties signed their deals.

The unions were in year-long negotiations with most of the downtown properties covering roughly 44,000 employees. All contracts are retroactive to June of last year. The union members are expected to vote on these deals next week.
