The government shut down back in October for two weeks. One of the biggest losers in the shutdown was the national parks. Thousands of people were turned away since there were no forest service personel to operate them. Elko County officials are concerned that if another shutdown occurred during the peak tourist season, it would be economically disastrous. So the plan is to operate places like the Humboldt National Forest Campground with volunteers. Will the forest service go along with that?
