America's Growing Debt: The Stakes for the US and the World

In lieu of KNPR's State of Nevada Weekend Select, we offer this special broadcast:

Governments around the world are increasingly worried about the size and sustainability of America's debt, because they understand that the health of America's economy is essential to the health of the global economy and to global prosperity. In a globalized, interconnected world, what happens to the US economy affects the lives of billions of people, and will affect American foreign policy as well.

. Ray Suarez hosts this program from America Abroad, with interviews of former President Clinton, Director of the Office of Management and Budget Peter Orszag, and the Co-Chairs of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform Erskine Bowles and Alan Simpson. The program will feature highlights of a unique summit taking place in Washington D.C. on April 28, titled "Fiscal Summit 2010: America's Crisis and A Way Forward" to launch a national bipartisan dialogue on America's fiscal challenges. This summit is being presented by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation.
