Rachelle Taylor and Kelsey Hand, 7th graders at Hyde Park Middle School in Las Vegas are finalists in a national science competition. Their invention caught the attention of Korva Coleman, host of Weekend All Things Considered. So the girls came to the KNPR studios for a 'long distance' interview. The result was this segment from NPR's Weekend All Things Considered.

Car Seat Beeper Korva Coleman talks to three seventh grade girls who are finalists in a national science competition. They've invented an alarm device that could save many young lives each year, by alerting parents when they've left a child unattended in the car. (4:38)
